Hon. Barr. Fraben Agwu, JP, Executive Director, Centre for Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Segregation Practice in Nigeria (CERDSPIN) has written to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State sequel defection from People Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) Party on the consolidation of the Governor’s political power and enduring mandate.
Hon. Barr. Agwu, a former member of Enugu State House of Assembly, 1999 – 2003, congratulated Dr. Mbah and used opportunity to raise series of serious political and human rights issues of concerns for the Enugu State Governor in particular and others leaders in power at large to also observe.
Agwu, a Justice of Peace, politician cum human rights activist made this known in an interview with PeopleGAZET Newspapers also in press release advices the Dr. Mbah now APC Enugu leader that, “The ungodly philosophy that ‘Politics is a game of interest without morality’ has eroded compassion and justice”. Below are the excerpt of the address to H.E. Mbah:
*H.E. DR. PETER N. MBAH:*
NOW THAT YOU HAVE SECURED POWER (2027–31), USE IT TO DO GOOD TO ALL MANNER OF MEN.
The Centre for Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Segregation Practices in Nigeria (CERDSPIN) congratulates His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, on the consolidation of his political power and enduring mandate extending into the 2027–2031 period. By grace of God.
This new phase, achieved through strategic realignment with the APC-led Federal Government, marks the dawn of a political freedom that offers Your Excellency the latitude to focus on governance, legacy, and the pursuit of divine justice for all citizens of Enugu State.
Power, though often described, cannot be fully defined. Like the tale of the seven men of Hindustan who each felt the elephant differently, every perspective of power is partial, yet power remains power — the authority and capacity to act in accordance with divine and moral purpose.
Since creation, man has sought to emulate God’s leadership model. After establishing His kingdom in Eden, God made comprehensive provisions for human welfare — water, food, land, work, and companionship. In like manner, every government is divinely and constitutionally bound to secure the welfare and security of its people.
The Nigerian Constitution rightly affirms that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.” This sacred obligation transcends politics and reflects the will of God that leadership must serve the common good of all, without ill will or favour.
However, human nature is perpetually tempted by selfishness and discrimination. The devil subverts the divine intention for governance by deceiving leaders to use power for self-glorification, segregation, and domination. Thus, racial, sectarian, and class-based discrimination persist across communities, states, and nations.
The ungodly philosophy that “politics is a game of interest without morality” has eroded compassion and justice. Yet, true leadership—Godly leadership—must rise above this deception.
A leader who fears God constantly wrestles against these dark forces that urge him to be self-serving. Often, fear of losing power or offending influential figures deters leaders from doing what is right. But only a leader who has fully consolidated his power can act boldly for justice and legacy.
Today, H.E. Dr. Peter Mbah has reached that moment of divine consolidation. Having secured his mandate both within Enugu State and in harmonious alignment with the Federal Government, he stands free to lead without fear of political suppression.
This liberation marks the perfect moment to move from the politics of survival to the politics of legacy — to do what is right, not merely what is convenient; to heal wounds rather than appease power blocs; and to build an Enugu where every citizen, regardless of birth, caste, or class, can belong.
CERDSPIN calls on Your Excellency to champion a comprehensive policy of inclusion that dismantles traditional and systemic segregation in Enugu State.
Across communities in Enugu and wider Igboland, discrimination based on sects, castes, or clan supremacy continues to marginalize a significant section of our people. Many capable citizens—children of God and of the State—are silently excluded from employment, appointments, political offices, and social empowerment.
To redress this historic injustice, we recommend the establishment of a Department for Social Integration and Rehabilitation, dedicated to:
Identifying families and individuals historically excluded by segregation practices;
Rehabilitating and integrating them into public service and socio-economic programs;
Promoting social cohesion and equal opportunity in governance; and
Ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the State.
Such an institution would mirror the Federal Government’s humanitarian and social investment initiatives and would become a moral legacy for your administration.
Your Excellency, as you enter this new phase of political consolidation, remember that power is a divine trust. It is given to serve, not to dominate. History will judge leaders not by the wealth they amassed or the monuments they built, but by the tears they dried and the lives they lifted.
We therefore urge you to use your secured power to do good to all manner of men.
