The Federal Government says Nigeria’s economic indicators are improving, but a fundamental question remains: are ordinary Nigerians feeling the benefits?

That question was the focus of The Policy Room Podcast’s “Beyond The Headlines” programme, where host Lemmy Ughegbe, Ph.D., spoke with Ezeocha Nze, Public Affairs Analyst and Publisher of Disclosure News, about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.

The conversation examined the disconnect between macroeconomic improvements and household hardship, and whether the statistics cited by government match the daily realities of citizens.

The two also reviewed the price Nigerians have paid for the economic adjustments, and weighed the promise of shared prosperity against the experience of ordinary households.

Looking ahead, they discussed what must change before the 2027 elections if the administration is to convince Nigerians that the reforms are working.

The programme leaves open the central question of whether the reforms are truly delivering, and when Nigerians will begin to feel their impact.
