” Not my business” is the title of a poem written by Niyi Osundare. A satirical poem that expresses the indifference by many Nigerians to others problem in injustice and oppression.
The setting was an erra and a reflection of military dictatorship in which impunity, suspension of the rules of law, oppression of dissenting voices were common and unchallenged but with a usual comments : “what is my business so far as the matter does not concern me ” , These are usually comments or stands of many who surposed to speak out against such evil during the era !
The consequences of such unconcerned situation or choice of indifference in midst of this oppressions in our country was what the poet bemoaned in this poem! But the question; ” is the country still free from this same mess ?” The answer is ; NO!
The level of impunity and injustice as it is today in our country ;and under this APC government led by Ahmed Tinubu is very alarming and worrisome! It demands the efforts of all and people of good conscience to rise up to fight this evil monster.
This is no longer the case of only Mr Peter Obi and the NDC and few others in opposition, but all who still believe in the unity of this country!
The situation where all the arms of government and what make the system, democracy better and acceptable as best option of governance for others but not working here for us , is very worrisome and highly unacceptable Today under APC and Tinubu as the president , opposition has just been muzzled; with usual and unfortunate comments by some : ” Not our business “
The national assembly that is elected with members to constitutionally act as the voice of the masses, suddenly and again had been gagged with the same philosophy and usual mantra ; ” Not our business, so far the savouring yam in our mouths are not taken away “.
This is very unfortunate and the new development that has permeated in similar manner into our judiciary and every other arms of government at both federal and states, that ought to protect our democracy; and the masses from the hands of the tyrannical APC government and their leaders!
The situation in the country today demands a collective voice and efforts to tell the ruling APC government that ; “enough is enough.”
Through our votes in 2027 Nigerians should speak out with one voice and loudly, vote out this evil APC government both at states and federal level–from top to bottom !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
