Hon. P-G Ikenna Ogbodo, the president general of Enuagu Autonomous Community, Ndiagu, Akpugo, Nkanu west Local Government Area, write not with flattery, but with the raw, unfiltered gratitude of a people who have long yearned for a leader who sees beyond the desk—who hears beyond the whispers of the elite, and who walks where the asphalt ends and the dust of the village begins.

You have not governed from a distance; you have governed from the ditch, the farm, the market square, and the humble thatch-roofed home.

While others chase the fleeting applause of the city, you have chosen the slow, sacred work of touching the untouchable. You have made Nkanu West a living testament that governance is not about titles—it is about testimonies. And today, our people have testimonies.

TO THE MAYOR WHO GOES TO THE GRASSROOTS:
Your Honour, Sir, you have redefined what it means to be a Local Government Chairman and Mayor. You are not a ceremonial figure; you are a frontline worker in the battle against poverty and neglect.
To the widow in the remote village of Obe who now smiles because your empowerment scheme put food on her table—you are her hero.
To the young school dropout in Akpugo whom you personally enrolled in a skills acquisition program—you are his second chance.
To the aged farmer in Ozalla who received farm inputs and seedlings from your agricultural intervention—you are his harvest.
To the sick child in Amurri who found free healthcare through your mobile medical outreach—you are his miracle.
To the indigent family in Enuagu autonomous community who received roofing sheets and foodstuffs from your direct palliative distribution—you are their lifeline.
You have not just built roads—you have built bridges to the hearts of the poorest of the poor. You have not just dug boreholes—you have dug hope from the dry ground of despair. You have not just renovated schools—you have renovated the futures of children who were written off by society.

YOUR DEVELOPMENTAL FOOTPRINTS AS MAYOR ARE LEGENDARY:
The rural road networks that now connect our agrarian communities to markets, ending the age-long exploitation by middlemen.
The solar-powered streetlights that have turned our once-dark villages into safe havens for night traders and late-night travellers.
The micro-credit schemes that have birthed new petty traders and small-scale entrepreneurs among our women.
The palliative distributions that reached the deaf, the blind, the elderly, and the displaced—not through proxies, but through your own hands.
The quarterly town hall meetings where you sit barefoot on mats with our elders, listening to their cries and responding in real time.
The free healthcare outreaches that have brought medical services to the doorsteps of the most remote communities.
The youth empowerment initiatives that have turned idle hands into productive artisans and entrepreneurs.
You have made governance personal. You have made leadership sacrificial. You have made Nkanu West a model for grassroots development across Enugu State and beyond.

BUT YOUR HONOUR, WE MUST BE HONEST WITH YOU:
While we celebrate your achievements, we also bring to your fatherly attention the cries of our people that still echo across Enuagu autonomous community:
Our roads remain in a terrible state—many are still impassable, cutting us off from markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. Our farmers cannot transport their produce; our children cannot reach their schools during the rainy season. We plead with you, Sir, to remember our roads.
Clean drinking water is still a mirage for many of our villages—our women and children walk miles daily to fetch water from muddy streams and contaminated ponds. We cry out for boreholes and water projects that will quench our thirst and save our children from waterborne diseases.
Steady power supply remains a dream—our small businesses are crippled; our youths cannot engage in productive digital work; our hospitals cannot preserve life-saving drugs. We beg you, Sir, to use your good office to attract electricity solutions to Enuagu autonomous community.
We know that Rome was not built in a day. We know you have done much with the little resources available. We are not ungrateful—far from it. But we trust that in your second tenure, you will complete what you have started and attend to these critical needs that touch the very soul of our existence.

AND NOW, THE PEOPLE HAVE SEEN—AND THEY WILL NOT FORGET.
Your Honour, we are not blind to the cynics who say Local Government Chairmen and Mayors are mere figureheads. We are not deaf to those who claim that grassroots leaders cannot effect real change. You have silenced them all—not with rhetoric, but with rocks, cement, seedlings, schoolbooks, and the tears of joy wiped from the faces of the indigent.
You have proven that the office of the Mayor is not about sitting in an air-conditioned office, but about sitting under the scorching sun with the common man. You have shown that governance is not about collecting salaries, but about collecting the burdens of the people and turning them into victories.

*AS WE LOOK TOWARD THE 2026 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION, WE MAKE THIS UNBREAKABLE PLEDGE: *
The people of Nkanu West are not fair-weather supporters. We are witnesses. We are beneficiaries. We are converts to your cause. And we are ready.
Come 2026, we will not be bought. We will not be intimidated. We will not be divided.
I want to personally assure you, Your Honour, that I have already started campaigning for you very well—in my village, in my ward, in my community meetings, in my church gatherings, and in every marketplace I visit. I tell them of your good works. I tell them of your heart for the poor. I tell them of your accessibility. I tell them that you are not like the others—that you are a Mayor who feels the pulse of his people.
And the response has been overwhelming. The people are eager. The people are ready. The people are waiting for 2026 to speak with their votes.

We will march to the polling units in our hundreds of thousands—from the hills of Amagunze to the valleys of Akpugo, from the plains of Obe to the streams of Ozalla—and we will cast our votes not for a party, but for a man. Not for a symbol, but for a testimony. Not for a title, but for our Mayor—the one who knows our names, our pains, and our dreams.
You will be re-elected overwhelmingly. Not because you promised the moon, but because you gave us bread. Not because you spoke eloquently, but because you served silently. Not because you were powerful, but because you were present.
Your re-election will not be a political victory—it will be a people’s verdict. It will be the voice of the widow crying “thank you.” It will be the chant of the youth saying “we believe.” It will be the prayer of the elderly saying “God bless our Mayor.”

AND WHEN YOU RETURN FOR YOUR SECOND TENURE, WE ONLY ASK THIS:
Remember us like others. Remember the communities that stood by you when the tide was against you. Remember the poor who sang your praises when the elite doubted you. Remember the villagers who braved the sun and rain to cast their votes for you.
We are not asking for the world—we are asking for good roads to connect us, clean water to sustain us, and steady power to empower us. These are not luxuries; they are the bare necessities of life. And we believe in you, Sir—we believe that with your second tenure, these cries will become testimonies.

MAY YOUR NAME BE ETERNALLY WRITTEN IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE OF NKANU WEST.
Continue, Your Honour, to be the voice for the voiceless. Continue to be the hand for the helpless. Continue to be the light for those sitting in the shadow of poverty. Your labour of love will not go unrewarded—both here on earth, and in the annals of our Local Government’s history.
We are with you. We stand with you. We will re-elect you in 2026. We have started the work, and we will not rest until you are returned to your seat.

NKANU WEST IS PROUD OF YOU. YOUR LEGACY IS SECURE.
