LAGOS RESTATES COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR ALL CHILDREN<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every child has access to education under its leave no child behind policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Abisola Dokunu-Adegbite, stated this while monitoring the commencement of the 2026 Screening Test for admission into Model Colleges and upgraded Junior Secondary Schools, an exercise coordinated by the Lagos State Examinations Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, addressing pupils during the Screening Test intoLagos State Model Colleges at PSSDC, Magodo.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dokumu-Adegbite explained that the examination serves as part of the assessment process for primary school pupils seeking admission into secondary schools, adding that it also forms part of the continuous evaluation of learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Permanent Secretary praised the pupils for their ease in using computers and laptops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also urged parents to remain committed to making necessary sacrifices for their children\u2019s education, stressing that education remains the foundation and lifeline of any society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dokumu-Adegbite emphasised that the importance of education could not be overstated, calling on parents to support government efforts to ensure that every child has access to quality education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for their various interventions in the education sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

According to her, this Screening Test remains the sole criterion for placement into any of the State\u2019s Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools and strictly for Primary 6 pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A parent, Daniel Ajayi, appreciated the State government for boosting the people\u2019s confidence in government schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEducation cannot be overemphasised,\u201d Ajayi said, adding that while many parents in the past placed greater trust in private schools, there is now growing confidence in government-owned schools, leading more people to enroll their children in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the introduction of Computer-Based Testing, CBT, in the education system has significantly enhanced the quality of education, and he commended the government for the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the pupils, Chubiyo Williams, said the examination was not difficult and expressed optimism about his success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said he had prepared by studying and praying before the examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
